Boston, Massachusetts
15 December 2002

Viewed from the Bunker Hill Monument at sunset, the Leonard Zakim Bridge spans the Charles River. The cables and towers of the Zakim Bridge are fully lit by the blue-colored spotlights. The evening traffic of Interstate 93 is visible streaming over the old double-decker bridge which has since been demolished. In the foreground are the old buildings of Charlestown while the Boston Skyline including the John Hancock Tower provides a stunning backdrop. Bourne Bridge

Bourne, Massachusetts
3 November 2001

The Bourne Bridge spans the Cape Cod Canal at sunset. On this day I had intended to photograph the Bourne Bridge from the west, lit by the setting sun against the dark clouds, however the clouds would not lift. I had wandered here to the east side of the bridge when the sun peeked out from the bright sliver of sky visible in the background. I buried the sun in the steel members of the arch-truss and clicked the shutter creating this backlit shot of the Bourne Bridge.
